Greetings! Thanks for visiting my part of the world. It’s a colorful world populated by fabric, pillows, yarn, thread, dyes, sketch books, and works-in-progress for my customers, friends, and family.
I’ve been sewing since the age of 10. My mother taught me how to steer her old Singer so that I could help hem crib sheets for my younger siblings. Two years in West Virginia 4H taught me how to stitch by hand, embroider, read a pattern, and construct my junior-high wardrobe. My first years in Boston taught me how to shop the garment district for high quality home dec remnants and designer textiles, and to delve into crafting my own (financially necessary) “shabby chic” apartment fashions long before the look had an actual branded name. My years as a writer, editor, and publisher focusing on the creative economy introduced me to innovative designers whose unique vision and energy were an endless source of inspiration for my own creative works.
Today, my kids have left the nest and I have finally returned to my textile roots and passion full-time. Although I’m based in Greenfield, MA, I have been commissioned to create custom embroidered keepsakes for customers throughout Massachusetts and around the world. The creative process is 100% collaborative: I don’t impose my own ideas on my clients, I help bring their own visions and ideas to life. It’s exciting and rewarding to hear their responses after their packages arrive in the mail: “It’s exactly what I had in mind!”
Cheers…
