Kitchen Sink Textile Dyeing
While researching my book Textile Dyeing: The Step-by-Step Guide and Showcase, I picked up some terrific methods for small-batch projects. I offer a variety of private or small-group workshops on the basics of textile dyeing techniques which will help you extend the life of the clothes you own, inspire you to re-purpose thrift store finds, and create beautiful and unusual fat quarters for pillows, appliqué, and quilting projects.
Paper and Fabric Craft
Paper and fabric share a common history. It’s fun to learn new ways to play with fiber, and our paper-craft workshops let you do just that.
Functional origami: With just a few simple creases, you can create boxes, envelopes, ornaments, garlands, and other practical but beautiful pieces. Perfect for the holidays and year-round festivities.
Practical orinuno: Origami means paper-folding. Orinuno means fabric folding. You’d be amazed at the things you can do with a square or rectangular strip of fabric and some orinuno folds. This class teaches inventive and extremely useful skills … no strings attached!
Paste-paper design: Finger-painting taken to the next level. Using combs, forks, and found objects, learn how to create beautiful designs which will change a plain piece of paper into something wonderful. (It’s a great way to breathe new life into a recycled paper bag.)
Paper-making: Learn how to make paper with a simple “kitchen sink” method, using recycled materials, botanical inclusions, and more.
