Repurposing fabric is one of the Kate’s Threads specialties, so over the winter I started looking for a way to use my many remnants of canvas and painter’s drop cloth. The search was over when I started making fabric “stuff buckets.”
Actually, a lot of people refer to them as baskets. But because they seem so perfect for storing stuff — cooking stuff, gardening stuff, office stuff, kids’ stuff — I like the way it sounds when “stuff” is paired with “bucket.”
Whatever you call them, they make the perfect foundation for custom embroidery. There’s something about their three-dimensional aspect which brings out the detail in the types of embroidery designs I’m drawn to.
If you’re interesting in a charming, artistic, and practical item to hold your own stuff, or to give someone special when a special event rolls around, stuff buckets are a great choice. What can I sew for you and your stuff?
